Obtiuary of Cole McMahon; as printed in"The Derrick" newspaper.

 

 

Cole Patrick McMahon, 24, of 610 Young Road, Erie, a former Oil City
resident, died at 6:55 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, in a traffic accident while driving to work at Fort LeBoeuf High School in
Waterford.
Born April 16, 1982, he was the son of Malachy and Dolly Campbell
McMahon.
He attended St. Stephen Grade School and Oil City Middle School and
was a 2001 graduate of Oil City High School where he participated in
football and track.
Mr. McMahon then attended Clarion University for one year and was a
member of Student Senate. The next three years he attended California
University of Pennsylvania where he graduated magna cum laude in
December 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in technology
education.
He was employed as a technology teacher and assistant football coach
at Fort LeBoeuf High School in Waterford at the time of his death.
While attending college, Mr. McMahon had been employed by the City of
Oil City and PennDOT. From December 2005 until June of this year, he
had been a substitute teacher in many of the local school districts.
Mr. McMahon was a member of St. Stephen Church in Oil City.
His interests were riding ATVs, dirt bikes and quad racing. He also
enjoyed fishing, golf and hunting.
Mr. McMahon loved to be around family and friends and his dog, Dylan.
He was well liked by all who met him.
Surviving are his parents, Malachy McMahon, former mayor of Oil City,
and Dolly McMahon, a teacher in the Oil City School District; and one
brother, Logan J. McMahon of Oil City.
He also is survived by his maternal grandfather, George Campbell of
Texas; his paternal grandfather, Jerome L. McMahon of Oil City; and
many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Kathryn Campbell and
Helen McMahon; and an uncle, Mark McMahon.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St.
Stephen Church with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, presiding.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
